Underage Code of Conduct

PLAYERS CODE OF ETHICS
“I hereby pledge to be positive about my under-age sports experience at Sligo Rugby Club and accept responsibility for my participation, by following this Players Code of ethics pledge,�

  • I will encourage good sportsmanship from fellow players, coaches, officials and parents at every game and practice by demonstrating good sportsmanship myself.
  • I will attend punctually for training and matches and will inform my coaches if I cannot.
  • I will do my best to listen and learn from my coaches
  • I will treat my coaches, other players, supporters and officials with respect, regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.
  • I deserve to enjoy my sports experience and will alert my parents or coaches when it stops being fun.
  • I will encourage my parents to be involved in my sports experience with Sligo Rugby Club as it is important to me.
  • I will remember that sport provides me with the opportunity to learn skills and have fun doing so.

PARENTS CODE OF ETHICS
“I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement to my child participating in Under-age Rugby at Sligo RFC by following this parents code of ethics pledge�

  • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive respect and support for all players, coaches and officials at every game, practice or other youth sports event.
  • I will place the physical and emotional wellbeing of my child ahead of a personal desire to win.
  • I will insist that my child plays in a safe and healthy environment.
  • I will support coaches and officials working with my child, in order to achieve a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
  • I will remember that the game is for children and not for adults.
  • I will do my very best to ensure that underage sport is fun for my child.
  • I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, supporters, officials and Club property and Premises with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.
  • I promise to help my child enjoy the Sports Experience at Sligo RFC.

COACHES CODE OF ETHICS

  • Coaches will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner as laid down in the IRFU Code of Ethics.
  • In the event of a discipline problem arising with one of the players, the matter should be referred to the Head Coach who will speak to the player in the presence of one or more coaches. The matter may then be reported Chairperson of the Juvenile Committee who will contact the player’s parents, if needs be.
  • Coaches will place the physical and emotional well being of players in their care ahead of a personal desire to win
  • Coaches will advise parents promptly of any non- minor injuries to their child at practice or in a competitive game. Coaches will ensure that players receive appropriate medical treatment immediately following injury.

A Breach of these ethics may result in corrective action up to and including suspension.
